Having Ourselves a Big and Rich Time!

Jamboree in the Hills. Ever heard of it? If you are a country music fan and haven't heard of it, then you are missing out on an interesting and unique part of the country music world.

Jamboree in the Hills takes place in a small town in middle-of-nowhere Ohio (admittedly not much different from the town where I currently reside, but I digress). Jamboree in the Hills is a four day country music festival that is this small town's only claim to fame. If you want to call it that!

Each year, tens of thousands of country folk descend on this town to spend four long days outdoors listening to great country music and drinking beer by the gallon. There are worse places to spend a weekend, right?

Steve and I headed down to Jamboree in the Hills on Friday night. No, we didn't plan on attending all four days, but instead had tickets for Friday evening only, when Big and Rich were playing. My brother-in-law, David, works for "Big Kenny" of Big and Rich, so he was able to get us all access, backstage passes. Hard to pass up, right?

As soon as we arrived, Steve and I realized we were in for an experience like none other. We immediately felt out of place for multiple reasons. First of all, Steve had worked a full day, so we didn't arrive until almost 7:oo that evening...which basically meant that everyone else there had a good ten hours of drinking on us.

We also realized that our attire was all wrong. I had been feeling pretty good in a cute black t-shirt and jeans, until I realized that I was WAY over dressed. Over dressed meaning that I actually had a shirt on, as opposed to the bikini top I mistakenly left at home. And Steve? His golf shirt (believe me, I tried to at least get him in a t-shirt before we left the house!) was a little out of the ordinary being that it was ON his body. Add Jenn in her cute button down shirt and Steve's parents into the mix and were definitely an interesting group! I guess we'll know better for next time. In some situations less is more.

The backstage passes that David got for us were awesome! It was such a neat experience to be so close to all of the performing artists. After the show was over, we even got to hang out with Big Kenny outside of his tour bus. Very cool!

On Saturday, David and Jenn joined us for a day at Turkeyfoot Lake. The girls loved spending time with their Uncle David and "Jennie", as well as Nolie, Grandpa Ric, Grandma Debbie, and Grandma Cindy. We hope we can see David and Jenn again soon!
