Attitude of Gratitude - June 20, 2009

Given the fact that I spent the better part of this past week in Buffalo, I think my Attitude of Gratitude is going to have a little "Buffalo flare" to it. This could be interesting (or not)!

1. My family...Moving away from them was probably the hardest decision I ever had to make. I'm so appreciative of all the effort they put into making trips to Ohio to see me and my family and love how they take me in anytime I'm crazy enough to make a trip up north with the girls.

2. The Buffalo Sabres...I had this one first, but thought it might look bad to have hockey above family, and since that only happens during playoffs, I figured I should prioritize a little! I grew up going to hockey games with my family and friends and still get a rush every time I'm flipping through the tv channels and find a game that's on. The fast paced play, the energy, the excitement...Ohio doesn't know what it's missing when it comes to this great sport!

3. Friends...even though I have kept in touch with some better than others, I'm lucky to have a great group of friends that still call Buffalo home and I enjoy seeing and talking to them anytime I am able.

4. The Outlet Mall...a mere 10 minute drove over the bridge (instead of the almost hour drive it is here) and I'm in outlet heaven, complete with an Ann Taylor outlet. Actually, it's probably a good thing that I don't have outlets that close all the time. I'd need to take out a second job to support THAT habit!

5. New sleeping arrangements...Jim did an awesome job finishing the basement at the townhouse, so I now have my own place to sleep when I visit. Not that I didn't love sleeping in the same room with my kids who move constantly in their sleep and snore, of course. Thanks Jim!

**Please note that the rest of this post is going to be devoted solely to my favorite Buffalo foods. Readers beware! This stuff is not for the faint of heart!

6. Duff's...for the best chicken wings known to man. It's ok if you're not the "home of the original chicken wing", Duffs! You'll always be number one in my heart!

7. Anderson's...for their tasty roast beef on kimmelwick sandwiches and yummy fries, best served slathered in pools of vinegar and salt.

8. Sahlen's hot dogs or hot dogs from the grill at Ted's...both equally good.

9. Perry's Piece of Cake ice cream...which actually tastes just like yellow cake with chocolate frosting. But who am I kidding? All of Perry's ice cream is delicious!

10. Tim Horton's...for the best darn cup of coffee you can find just about anywhere!

I've never been to Buffalo, but I might go just to eat some of that food you mentioned ... especially the ice cream!
