Although winter is not exactly my favorite season of the year, I do thoroughly enjoy a good snowfall. My favorite time in winter is when new snow falls and everything is blanketed in a beautiful, clean, glistening white. You know the snow I'm talking about. The winter wonderland snow. It's just perfect.

Problem is...after awhile, that beautiful white loses its luster. Everything gets grey and slushy. Definitely not the part of winter I like.

Just a few days into the new year, the beautiful white outside got me thinking about the New Year's resolutions I like to make for myself each year.

January 1st rolls around and I have my list (and yes, it's an actual written-down-with-pen-and-paper list) of things that I want to change in my life for the upcoming year. Things I can do to try to make myself a better wife and mother. A better friend and teacher. Some goals have to do with finances (love you Dave Ramsey!), while others have to do with health and nutrition.

Each January I start with my list and begin tackling them all right away. And for awhile it's all just perfect.

Kind of like that perfect new snow...

But, inevitably, somewhere along the way some of my resolutions always seem to fall by the wayside. Somewhere within my busy life, I don't always accomplish everything that I set out to do at the start of the new year. Those bright resolutions and goals quickly start looking a bit lackluster.

Kind of like that grey, slushy snow that I can't stand...

This year, I want to try to keep those resolutions new and bright for as long as possible, just like that new snowfall that I love.

We'll just have to wait and see how that goes!
