Today, Steve and I were given a wonderful opportunity to get out and do some shopping. Just us. No diaper bag. No stroller. No buckling and unbuckling of car seats. No checking the clock to worry about feedings and naps. No kids! Now, we love our kids, but we also love grandparents who are willing to watch them AND we love kid-free errands.
As we were out and about doing a little Christmas shopping for others (aka: "shopping for Christmas decorations and other stuff for us"), I was SHOCKED to see how many other people were out doing the same thing. First of all, we were out shopping during the Ohio State/Michigan game, which is apparently a huge thing if you are from the state of Ohio. Being the New York gal that I am, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to shop and avoid lots of lines. Wrong!
Secondly, all I read about in the news lately is how terrible our economy is doing. Based on the parking spaces that we found that were three miles away from the stores we wanted to enter, it is hard to believe that's the case! Everyone and their brother seemed to be out shopping today, and based on the lines we waited in, they were doing more than window shopping.
Despite the lines and traffic today, Steve and I had a wonderful day getting lots accomplished and even having time to stop for dinner. Memo to the government: you can officially cross Target, Sam's Club, and Flower Factory off your lists of businesses needing bailout packages.
