A Return to "Normal"

This past week has definitely been one for the record book here at the Wright's. After a weekend filled with crabby, unhappy kiddos, we discovered on Monday afternoon that our dear children had contracted a delightful virus known as Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (thank you day care). For those of you that don't know anything about this particular virus, please, allow me to enlighten you! Basically, it typically starts out with a fever and then spots begin appearing on the inside of your mouth. Icky, painful spots. In some instances, kids also get rash-like bumps on their hands and feet as well. Hence the name.

True to my kids, Olivia had MAYBE three bumps in her mouth. She barely skipped a beat and it was back to business as usual for her after only about 12 hours of feeling slightly miserable. Madison, on the other hand, had a mouth covered in spots, hands and feet that were covered, AND a sinus infection. Now, I know she didn't feel well, but we all know that Madison is definitely my drama girl...which meant she cried for the vast majority of this past week. She cried when she was awake, she cried when she was asleep. Two sleep deprived parents, one crying Madison, and an Olivia who wanted to play all made for a very loooooonnnnnnnnngggggggg week at our house.

Now that this new weekend has arrived, we are finding ourselves facing a new challenge. Everyone is mostly healthy again, but Madison seems to think that whining is the newest and greatest thing EVER. It certainly got our attention while she was sick, so why wouldn't it now? As for Olivia, she seems to feel that she was quite neglected this past week and is making up for lost time. She now gently 'throws' herself onto the ground and then falls to pieces over a very much made-up 'injury'. Perhaps I'm brewing TWO drama queens over here?!?!?

The same stuff went around our house too. Definitely not something we would ever want again! At least Kennedy didn't get it, or we would have had misery times three!

Good luck staying germ-free this fall and winter! And if you come running at me with a bottle of Purell, I totally won't be offended!
