Does it Ever Get Easier?

I'm joining in on Multiples and More's question of the week....

When did it get "easier" for you?

This question really hit home for me this week, because I have two friends with brand new twin babies right now.    One of them sent me an email a few days ago, begging me to let her know when it was going to get "easier" and she would feel human again.

It got me thinking back to those first few months when the girls were little.  I was very fortunate that they both slept through the night relatively early.  But until then?  Life was ridiculously crazy!  When I was waking up multiple times a each night to feed two babies who were not yet on the same schedule, I literally thought I might lose my mind (let's be honest, I probably did lose a good portion of it!).

Then, just like that, everyone was sleeping for long stretches of time and everything was so much better.  So for me, things got so much "easier" once I was getting regular sleep.

What's funny though, is that it seems like it's always something.  Once the girls were sleeping through the night, we had other hurdles we had to face...and still continue to face.

Over the past four years, I've had thoughts like:

"It will be so much easier when they are sleeping through the night."

"I just can't wait until they can both feed themselves."

"Things will be so easy once I'm not changing diapers all the time and the girls are potty trained."

The truth is, raising kids is a constant cycle of stages.  They are always hard in the moment, but eventually get "easier".  Then you try to savor the "easier" moments for as long as humanly possible before the next challenge comes along.

So see?  It really does get easier.

At least until the next stage comes along!

There are always ups and downs. At this moment (at least for us) everyhting is going to "be easy" when my girls stop having injuries. Sometimes is like if we live at the zoo.
